Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today our staff held a meeting focused on plans for remote lessons for students to continue their learning remotely.
Our special services team drafted a plan to meet the needs of our students with the resources available. This will be accomplished with individual packets, online resources and regular phone contacts with colleagues and parents.
Our colleagues in the brick and mortar schools presented several options for students continued academic growth during this time. Again, folks were going to be in regular contact with parents, tribal partners and health clinics.
It was reported that Zoom is offering free services to educators and Chris Romine, our district technology director will facilitate the set up you will need for connecting with parents and students.
GCI reached out to IASD and other remote school districts to offer internet services either for free or at a great discount depending on a family's financial situation. I learned later that GCI is also working with ACS among other state internet service providers and our state superintendent’s association to provide this service. More information to follow......
Staff returning from Anchorage will be screened by Ravn; this will involve a temperature check. There will be no district travel for the next 30 days. Staff can travel for medical and other essential services.
Thank you for your help to keep our children safe and healthy. Please call if you have questions 524-1221.
Connie A. Newman, Superintendent
