POSITION OPENING

POSITION:Special EducationTeacher

LOCATION:Anvik, Grayling, Nikolai, Shageluk, Takotna

2019-2020 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Must meet Highly Qualified standards in Special Education with a current Alaska teaching certificate. Knowledge and understanding of Alaska State Professional Teaching Practices Commission. Administrative experience preferred.

  • 2.Willing to travel in a small plane on a regularbasis.
  • 3.Ability to plan, organize, develop, prepare and deliver under minimal supervision, IEP’s goals and objectives for allchildren.
  • 4.Experience writing all components of a student’sIEP.
  • 5.Cross-cultural experience and/or courseworkpreferred.
  • 6.Successful rural teaching experiences or can demonstrate the ability and knowledge to work competently with Native Alaskan students and all students in an isolated and ruralsetting.
  • 7.Experience and understanding of best teaching practices and can explain and demonstrate effective use of such practices in a classroom setting, one on one with students, and in smallgroups.
  • 8.The physical and mental capacity to adjust to challenging and remote environments.
  • 9.Ability to work with teachers, parents, administrators and otherssuccessfully.
  • 10.Experience and understanding the importance of ongoing formative and summative assessments and can explain and demonstrate effective use of such assessments in a classroom setting.Ability to use the data to improve instruction and learning for students. Assessments might include portfolios, scoring guides, running records, observations, and analytical and contextual, plusothers.
  • 11.ExperienceandunderstandingofAnchoragePre-SchoolDevelopmentalProfile, Woodcock Johnson Reading Test, and other tests given in relation to Special Education services.
  • 12.Proficient technology skill in commonly used software programs, e-mail, internet etc, that can be demonstrated on PC’s or Macs. Experience with electronic IEP Programs.

LENGTH OF CONTRACT:
188-190Days

SALARY:Dependinguponexperienceandeducation;salaryisbasedontheDistrict’sTeacher's NegotiatedAgreement.

SALARY & DURATION: Depending upon experience and education; salary is based on the Teacher’s Negotiated Agreement. 190 Day Contract.
