Mask up Alaska

Together we Are Iditarod Strong

I would like to thank the staff, parents, students, tribal partners and community health agencies for their invaluable time and assistance for the time and input they provided for our draft Smart Start Plans for the school year 2020-2021. I know that you have been working on this all summer, in fact some villages have been working on their plan since spring. The beginning of the year presents several challenges to ensure that our students and staff are safe. Each individual site will have a different set of protocols and schedules depending on their assessed level of risk. Please be assured that our plans follow the guidelines from the Alaska Department of Education, (DEED), Health and Social Services, (DHSS) and the Center for Disease Control, (CDC). Please be assured our staff at each school and village are very aware and sensitive to the concerns and needs of each child in our care. As the health conditions evolve, portions of the plan may change again to keep our children and staff safe and healthy.
